Hello everyone,
We bring some news from the land. Over the winter we took the decision to protect certain areas of the old farm on the hill that are exposed to the rain. We had the opportunity to study the conditions of the walls of the ruin in more detail and, although they are in fairly good condition, we realised that it would be a good idea to protect those that, because of the damaged roof, were exposed to the rain. This way, we can wait more peacefully for the works to begin, knowing that no water will get inside the rammed earth walls.
So, in December, we adopted a very simple and low-cost temporary solution. With the help of Artur, who lives nearby and is very good at this kind of work (he had already built the 2 dry toilets), some plastic sheeting was placed on top of the most exposed walls to prevent water from going inside the walls.
With the help of Marie-Laure, a valuable architect and member of the community, Artur could quickly identify the priority areas to protect. Artur installed plastic covers, with different fixing systems, so that we could wait calmly for the works to begin. As this winter has been very rainy in Portugal (a blessing for the new plantations 🌱 ), it reinforces our opinion that this was indeed a good decision.
And here we have the result! 🙂

Soon we’ll share more news about some of the major developments of the project and of the land! 😉
